5TH MEETING

Report Amsterdam Perl Mongers Meeting tuesday March 2 1997.

6 people showed up: Jan-Pieter Cornet, Frank Schuurmans, Eric Veldhuyzen, Merijn Brandt, Johan Vromans and Roberto Bourgonjen. Still no women. Instead of a bottle of white wine, the reward is now a bottle of red wine.

Despite the low attendance it was a cosy and relaxed meeting. We had a nice dinner at restaurant Bird at the Zeedijk (next time somewhere else?) and drinks at Maximiliaan, larded with geek conversations about OS'es, editors (Merijn will soon be introduced to emacs by Johan), copyrights and proxyservers, the meaning of Mongers ("venter" in dutch), and perl regexes/modifiers. While discussing some policy issues concerning the group, it appeared the majority was pleased about the new cow logo, Frank Schuurmans' xxx-logo and his proposal for the web-interface. Johan will check with O'Reilly wether they have a problem with our "adapted" version of the Camel logo. We decided on printing 30 black T-shirts, sizes L and XL with a big cow logo on the back, and the xxx-logo small on the front.

Merijn will take make some changes to the logo (make it suitable for printing on black). Roberto will take care of the printing, Jan Pieter will vouch for the invoice, about HFL 500,-. With a little luck the shirts will be ready next meeting.
