2ND MEETING

This was a rather hastily-annouced meeting and seven people turned up, including John Vromans (of Perl Quick Reference Guide fame). Our first stop was for a drink in Maximiliaan, and then for a quick Chinese dinner before returning back for more drinks.

On the mailing list, Frank Schuurmans had proposed an Amsterdam.pm logo which we all agreed was damn fine, and since it lacked a camel, we can print tshirts without O'Reilly's permission. Please ask printshops for quotes and post comments on the mailing list about this so we can get some tshirts printed by the next meeting.

Discussions during the copious dinner strayed away from Perl towards things such as the Halloween Memo and security matters.

However, we also discussed various ways to improve the turnout: if we could get a room at XS4ALL and give a few "introduction to Perl"-type talks (John V. suggested a Getopt::Long talk ;-) and with a bit more advertising we could easily gain in numbers.

As we retired to Maximiliaan we discussed a little heavy magic (such as Perl 5.005's qr()) and it turned into a small guru-is-in session (check out CPAN.pm).
